James Llinas
James Llinas - State University of New York (USA)
James Llinas has been a Professor in the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department of the State University of New York at Buffalo since 1995 and is a specialist researcher in advanced technological applications.
He has earned worldwide recognition as an expert in sensors, data and information fusion. He is, in fact, the co-author of the first book to integrate the themes of data fusion with a combination of sensors.
He has participated in numerous research groups, published a great many specialized articles and has taken part in many conferences, seminars and symposia.
Dr. Llinas is the co-editor of five books entitled: Multisensor Data Fusion, Handbook of Data Fusion, Handbook of Data Fusion, International Symposium on Distributed Computing and Artificial Intelligence 2008, and Distributed Data Fusion Handbook.
James Llinas is a member of the ISIF, the IEEE and the AIAA and was the winner of the Joe Mignona Prize for his contribution to the field of data fusion.
RESEARCH STAY AT UC3M: COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
PROJECT: Study possible approaches to the definition of a software and functional framework for Information Fusion (IF) processes that could be used across a wide range of applications. Some examples of IF applications analyzed were Ambient Intelligence systems, augmenting personal capabilities to perform daily tasks by services adapted to the user context, and advanced surveillance systems with an integrated exploitation of sensor data and knowledge domain.
