UC3M School of Health Sciences: Innovation and Excellence in Biomedical Sciences

  • This new faculty is presented as an innovative and reference project in the field of Health Sciences that will contribute to university excellence in the Community of Madrid.

The Carlos III University of Madrid reinforces its commitment to scientific innovation and social welfare with the creation of the Faculty of Health Sciences, a strategic project that consolidates its position as a reference institution in biomedicine and health.

This new center has a state-of-the-art building of 10,000 m² distributed over four floors, designed to promote top-level training and research. The teaching spaces are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, with teamwork rooms, specialized laboratories and multifunctional rooms.

The new faculty consolidates itself as a reference in Biomedical Sciences within one of the most prestigious public universities in Europe, representing a key advance to address the great social, economic and health challenges of the coming years.

New studies in Health Sciences

The new studies in Health Sciences at UC3M are characterized by their broad international orientation, with teaching in English and a high degree of student mobility. In addition, they offer an interdisciplinary approach and comprehensive training that combines theoretical knowledge with practical learning in hospitals and research centers.

In this academic year 2024/25, UC3M premiered the new Faculty of Health Sciences with the Degree in Neuroscience, the first degree in Spain in its specialty, which has registered one of the highest demands in the country.

Starting in September 2025, the university will offer the Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Sciences, which will offer two specialized tracks in cancer and cardiovascular diseases. 
 

To guarantee excellent practical training, UC3M collaborates with leading health institutions such as the Hospital Universitario de Getafe and Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón.

Bachelor´s Degree in Neuroscience

The Bachelor´s Degree in Neuroscience, the first university degree in this specialty in Spain, is the first degree of the Faculty of Health Sciences.

In its first year it has had a demand of 12 applications for each place offered, one of the highest in the country, and a cut-off mark of 13.184. 

This degree, taught in English, offers a multidisciplinary approach to the study of the nervous system, integrating knowledge of biology, psychology and neurology. It trains expert professionals to explore and understand the structure and function of the brain, behavior and neurological disorders, combining theoretical training with practice in specialized laboratories.

Graduates will be able to develop professionally in various fields, from the clinical sector to neuropsychological rehabilitation. Also in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, biomedical consultancies and research institutions, both public and private.

Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Sciences

Biomedical science combines basic and applied disciplines to study biological processes related to health and disease in order to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of pathologies. This field drives the development of new therapies and biomedical technologies essential to address global challenges, such as chronic diseases, pandemics and aging.

The new Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Sciences will start in September 2025 and is characterized by a multidisciplinary approach that integrates molecular biology, bioinformatics and biomedical engineering.

Taught in English, it aims to train highly qualified professionals to apply advanced knowledge to complex biomedical problems, contributing to innovation in personalized medicine, biotechnology and pharmacology.
