Act 39/2007 of November 19, regarding the military profession, outlines a new teaching model that encompasses, on one hand, general and specific military training, and on the other hand, that which corresponds to a university undergraduate degree in the general education system, with instruction carried out at Defense university centers, located in the pertaining military academies.
The Real Decreto 1959/2009 of creating the Centro Universitario de la Guardia Civil (CUGC) provides to the center the ability to impart master's degrees. In this context, the center is pioneer in the implementation of official studies related to security at national and international level and is immersed in interesting future projects.
Its aim is to pursue acquisition of the military profession’s essential values and principles which contribute to the integral training of the officer corps, and to equip individuals to carry out the constitutional mandate of guaranteeing the security of citizens as well as protecting the exercise of citizen rights and liberties.
