    GoArb is an educational program organized by IASC – International Arbitration Seminars & Courses and the Carlos III University of Madrid. It is an introductory course to international arbitration based on the analysis of a practical case that works as the axis to address the modules of the program. Since 2016, the GoArb has been held six times: five in Madrid and one in Mexico.

    The 2024 edition of GoArb will be a practical course on international arbitration. The course will deal with the main complexities regarding the procedural and substantive issues of international arbitration. In order to do so, the students will learn about the main stages of international arbitration proceedings. Throughout the course, the students will deal with the main complexities derived from:

    • (i) the initial negotiations between the parties;
    • (ii) calculation of damages and working with experts;
    • and (iii) preparing an arbitration hearing.

    Additionally, there will be two lectures focused on written and oral advocacy skills, respectively, as well as a training on cross-examination. The program will finalise with a hearing simulation where participants will be able to put everything they learnt during the course into practice, based on GoArb 2024’s mock hearing. On the other hand, the program of the course will be accompanied by one conference on how to develop a professional career in international arbitration; as well as a networking event, the “Madrid Experience”, where participants and professors will be able to meet and share their experiences.
