Lines of research

• Detection and classification of signals and images, including formulations parametric and nonparametric, centralized and distributed.
• Machine learning and image signal processing, including both design of classifiers and estimators as feature extraction and information for classification and estimation.
• Advanced techniques of statistical signal processing, including among others nonlinear filtering, Monte Carlo methods, Bayesian methods or signal decomposition.
• Information theory, with emphasis in the fields of Shannon theory, coding theory and data compression.
