Equipo UC3M4Safety

Carlos III University of Madrid provides a high degree of interdisciplinary research for international investigative projects where Social and Human Sciences must be connected and collaborate with Information and Communications Technologies in order to improve the life quality of European citizens. The open concept of global departments for teaching the students of the whole university, as well as the large experience in collaborative research makes this university a key institution in research projects where different approaches must be undertaken to study and analyze a common necessity, and propose common solutions to attend and solve today’s society challenges.

The UC3M4Safety team has been already dedicated to project calls for public funding in the framework of European Union, in a willing to develope an efficient and applicable solution to the problem of violence against weak elements in the current societies: women, children, eldery, etc.

 

The six groups which composed UC3M4Safety have realized along its research and development projects the importance of the gender violence approach.  All of them agreed a year ago in the necessity of working together to solve this problem with a techical and a social perspective. First works have started, developing a proof of concept to detect agressiveness, fear, and other human reactions to violence. Contacts with victims' associations and law enforcement agencies have also been carried out, confirming the interest in the solution proposed.

CONCEPTO BINDI

BINDI: Sensores inteligentes para proteger a víctimas de violencia de género  

  • BINDI es un modelo de utilidad: 'Sistema y método para determinar un estado emocional de un usuario' (Oficina Española de Patentes y Marcas, 2020)

El equipo UC3M4Safety está liderando una investigación interdisciplinar para desarrollar un dispositivo que detecte de forma automática las situaciones de miedo o pánico que supongan un riesgo para las víctimas de violencia de género. BINDI es capaz de lanzar una alerta automática a través de la medición de variables fisiológicas y físicas que señalan cuando una mujer está viviendo una situación de peligro ante un eventual episodio de violencia de género.

Con el diseño se ofrece una solución que complemente a los dispositivos y aplicaciones móviles actuales ya que no necesita que la usuaria accione un botón de pánico, sino que la alerta saltaría incluso en situaciones de bloqueo. Gracias a esa alerta, las personas que forman parte del grupo de ayuda de la víctima conocen la localización geográfica de la víctima, registrando los datos de la agresión y recopilando pruebas forenses, para activar un protocolo de ayuda inmediata que contacte con los servicios de emergencia pertinentes. Además, BINDI se plantea como una ayuda en la recuperación de las víctimas en todos los ámbitos: psicológico, social, personal y laboral, pues permitirá tanto a ellas como a los equipos de apoyo gestionar y procesar las alarmas en todos sus condicionantes y efectos.
