- EVENT SUMMARY
Synopsis:
On Tuesday 24 November, the seminar 'Mentoring' took place, the second of those organised by the Carlos III University of Madrid in the framework of the actions to promote and communicate tools and actions linked to the Human Resources Award logo.
Speakers who took part:
Carmen Martín Romo, Director of Human Resources at UC3M. She introduced the concept of mentoring and explained how it is linked to the Human Resources Strategy for the faculty of the institution and, always linked to its mission and values, is part of the pillar focused on Training and Development.
Patricia Forcén, senior technologist at ZOTEFOAMS PLC and member of the Society of Spanish Scientists in the UK (CERU). She highlighted the mentoring programme based on two "basic pillars": active listening and the formulation of questions by the mentor so that the mentee can express his or her ideas and implement actions to organise his or her goals.
Izaskun Lakunza, head of the 'Science Abroad' unit of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT). She explained the European mentoring programme REBECA, which was created to try to alleviate the lack of knowledge of pre- and postdoctoral students of the professional options that exist outside academia.
Lorena Muñoz, director of Effectia Consulting. She moderated the round table that brought the seminar to a close with the participation of three UC3M professors: Jesús Carretero, Professor of Computer Architecture and Technology and head of the Computer Architecture Research Group (ARCOS); Beatriz García Osma, Professor of Accounting, and Miguel Ángel Marzal, Vice-Dean of Academic Planning and Infrastructures and Professor of Library and Information Science and Documentation.
