UC3M, one of the best young universities worldwide
QS Top 50 Under 50 2020 Ranking
7/5/19
Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) continues to hold its noteworthy position in the new edition of the QS Top 50 Under 50 ranking, at the 34th spot worldwide and ranked 12th in Europe. This ranking assesses the 50 top world universities that are under 50 years old.
UC3M holds second position nationally and is one of four Spanish institutes of higher learning appearing in this ranking, along with Pompeu Fabra, Politécnica de Valencia and the IE University.
In order for a university to be assessed in the ranking QS Top 50 Under 50, it must complete two requisites: be 49 or less than 49 years old (UC3M was founded 1989), and appear in the QS World University Ranking, a classification that assesses the top 1000 universities in the world.
Developed by the British consultancy company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), this ranking analyses universities’ performance in four areas: teaching, employability, internationalization, and research. For this purpose it is based on six indicators: institution academic reputation, reputation among employers, citations of researchers’ scientific papers, student/faculty ratio, proportion of international faculty at the institution, and attraction of international students.
