Professor César Alonso Borrego

César Alonso-Borrego is PhD in Economics from Universidad Complutense and
CEMFI in 1994. He was assistant professor at UC3M between 1994 and 2000 and
is associate professor in the Department of Economics, UC3M, since 2000. He is
accredited for full profesor elegibility by ANECA (Spain’s National Agency for
Quality Assessment and Accreditation). He has been Vicedean of Academic
Organization in the School of Social and Law Sciences between 2002 and 2004,
deputy director of the UC3M PhD Program in Economics between 2004 and 2007
and director of the Master in Economic Analysis between 2006 and 2007. He has
been responsible of the teaching and coordination of several undergraduate and
graduate courses in Econometrics and Applied Economics at UC3M. He has also
been the Coordinator of the Scientific Assessment Board of Economics in the
Spanish ANEP (National Evaluation and Foresight Agency) between 2008 and
2011.

His research focuses on microeconometrics and its applications to labour and
industrial economics, mostly in the empirical analysis of firms’ decisions on
employment, investment and innovation, the effects of immigration, issues
related with gender inequality and causal evaluation of policy measures, with an
important weight on methodological aspects. His research papers have
produced several publications in international scientific journals, some of them
being much cited. He also collaborates as referee for different international
scientific journals in economics.
