Professor José Alfonso Artero Guerrero

José Alfonso Artero Guerrero is an associate professor at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) since 2019, from the department of Continuum Mechanics and Structural analysis. He holds an industrial engineering degree and a Master's in Advanced Structural Mechanics, where he earned an extraordinary award. He completed his doctorate with an "apto-cum laude" distinction. With 13.5 years of full-time teaching experience, Artero has taught a total of 1521.8 hours, including undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and has supervised 48 final degree and master theses.

His research, conducted within the "Dynamics of Lightweight Structures" group, focuses on composite materials' behavior under impact and high strain rates. He currently leads a national project and has previously led 4 other competitive projects, totalling €500k in funding. Artero has published 29 peer-reviewed journal articles, 27 in Q1 journals, with 725 citations and an h-index of 16. He has collaborated internationally with researchers from institutions like the University of Edinburgh, NTNU, and Lublin University.

He actively engages in industry research collaboration, leading 8 technological development projects, including with companies like Airbus, Aernnova, and ITP, focusing on aeronautical structures. As of June 2023, Artero has also been the director of UC3M's Master's in Industrial Mechanics and has been a member of the departmental council since 2013.
