Professor Aurea Grané Chavez
Aurea Grané is full professor of Statistics and Operations Research at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. She received PhD in Mathematics at Universidad de Barcelona.
She has contributed in several reseach lines, whose common link is the development of non-parametric techniques based on distances with application to data of a certain complexity. Thus, Prof. Grané has important contributions in the development of goodness of fit statistics for uniformity, exponentiality and normality tests, in statistical methods based on distances for data visualization, in predictive methods for functional data and in the development of tools for outlier detection in long financial series and mixed data sets.
Her works have been published in recognized international journals such as, Journal of the Royal Statistical Society: Series B Methodological, Journal of the Royal Statistical Society: Series A Statistics in Society, Computational Statistics and Data Analysis, Socio-Economic Planning Sciences, Journal of Banking and Finance, Ecology and Evolution, Social Indicators Research.
Since 2010 she has led national reseach projects and collaborated in several European research projects. She also collaborates with the Spanish Red Cross in the development of the Bulletins of Social Vulnerability.
