Professor Beatriz de las Heras Herrero
Beatriz de las Heras is Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities: History, Geography and Art at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. She graduated in Humanities from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and obtained her PhD in Humanities specialising in the Theory and Practice of History at the same institution.
She is a member of the Institute of Culture and Technology, where she carries out research into the study of photography and film as documents for the recovery of the past.
She has been a visiting professor at the Universidade de Sao Paulo (Brazil), Universidad Nacional de Lomas de Zamora (Argentina), Universidade Federal da Bahia (Brazil), Universidad de Buenos Aires (Argentina), Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (Argentina), Universidad Nacional Tres de Febrero (Argentina), Universidade do Porto (Portugal), Universidad de la República de Uruguay (Uruguay), Universidad de Guadalajara (Mexico), CIDE: Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (Mexico) and Middlebury College.
She is Principal Investigator of the Research Project "Photography as a Document for History. Discovering the Madrid of the Civil War through the eyes of Martín Santos Yubero" (HAR2012-35514) and member of the international projects: "Studies of the history of the present" of the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul in the project Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico de Brasil and "Travesías" of the Universidade de Sao Paulo.
