Sonia García López

Professor Sonia García López
She is an Associate Professor at the Communication Department of the UC3M and holds a PhD from the Universitat de València. She teaches in the postgraduate courses on Filmmaking, Curating and Preservation at the Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola. She has been a visiting scholar at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and New York University, and has lectured at the University of Cambridge, the Université de Paris-Sorbonne and the Central European University of Budapest. Her research interests include the relationship between film and history, film archiving and the cinematic cultures of anti-fascism and feminism, topics on which she has published several books and explored in her work as an independent curator for the Filmoteca Española, the Mostra Internacional de Films de Dones and the Open Society Archives in Budapest, among others. She has been Deputy Director of Academic Coordination of the Department of Communication (2023-2025) and Vice-Dean for Quality of the Faculty of Humanities, Communication and Documentation at UC3M (2020-2022). She has been a member of the Instituto Universitario del Cine Español (UC3M) since 2024.
