Professor María José Castellanos Ruiz

Mª José Castellanos Ruiz has a degree in Business Administration and Management from the Carlos III University of Madrid (September 1994) and a PhD in Law from this same university, the Carlos III University of Madrid (January 2016). Her doctoral thesis with European mention obtained the highest grade (Excellent Cum Laude, unanimously). She is Visiting Professor, accredited as Associate Professor (December 2023), in the Private International Law Area since September 2009, where she also teaches European Competition Law. She is also a professor in various official master's degrees, such as the Master in Civil Liability and unofficials, such as the Master in Foreign Trade; as well as Coordinator of the module “Documentary Management of Foreign Trade, Transport and International Logistics”.

She is currently Vice Dean of Orientation of the School of Law and Social Sciences of the Carlos III University of Madrid.

She has speaker at various national and international conferences, and has carried out research stays, such as the one developed at the "Institut de Recherche en Droit Européen, International et Comparé (IRDEIC)" of the University of Toulouse I Capitole (France).

One of its main lines of research is International Sales and Transport, especially in relation to aircraft, and currently, drones and artificial intelligence. Another of his lines of research in relation to International Family Law is that developed around Transnational Surrogacy. In addition, she has various publications on International Arbitration, European Competition Law and other topics of International Family law, such as child protection, divorce or maintenance, as well as International Succesions Law.
