Professor Jorge Martínez Crespo
Jorge Martínez Crespo works as Associate Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering since May 2011. Industrial Engineer, intensification of Energy Techniques, by the Polytechnic University of Madrid (1995) and Doctor of Electrical, Electronic and Automatic Engineering from the Carlos III University of Madrid (2004). In March 1998 he joined the Carlos III University of Madrid as an Assistant Professor after having worked for two and a half years at REPSOL BUTANO R&D as a researcher in two European projects.
During these more than 20 years of service at UC3M he has taught in 15 different subjects in the Department of Electrical Engineering in the degrees linked to the industrial branch (Industrial Technologies, Electrical, Mechanical and Electronics Technology) and also postgraduate. He has also been teaching and coordinating for more than 15 years humanities subjects (8 subjects) linked to cooperation for development and appropriate technologies. He has tutored more than 50 end-of-degree and master's degrees projects.
It belongs to two different research groups, REDES and GTADS, and its field of research is linked to the themes of both groups: electricity markets, renewable energy integration, optimization of power systems, energy education, energy poverty, appropriate technologies. He is co-author of about thirty scientific publications among JCR-indexed journals, a book chapter and numerous presentations and posters in international conferences. He has participated in 21 R&D projects financed in Public Calls of a European, State or regional nature, being IP in two EU projects, and in 11 R&D contracts of particular relevance with companies and/or Public Administrations, IP in three of them.
In parallel with the teaching and research activity it carries out different management tasks. He has been subdirector of the Department between 03/2006-03/2008 and secretary of the Department for the period 03/2008-03/2010. Member of the University Senate of the university for 12 years over different periods, and recently of the School Board of School of Engineering. In addition, he is director of UC3M's Human Development Engineering (HDI) cooperation group.
