Project:

In this project, we propose to analyze some theoretical issues related to field theories defined on spatial regions with boundary. These systems are relevant in areas like condensed matter physics, quantum computation, general relativity, and theoretical physics. The main topics that we want to explore are i) The geometric understanding of the so-called boundary degrees of freedom in the classical and quantum context. Examples of theories in which these are supposed to exist, are Chern-Simons, BF, and Maxwell-Chern-Simons models.  ii)In the context of gravitational physics, we have found a rich interplay between the dynamics of the theory in the bulk (Husain-Kuchar model) and the induced one on the boundary (gravitational theories). Both are remarkably interesting by themselves and the fact that they can be so related is a remarkable result. A deep understanding of this kind of interplay is mandatory in this example and other theories.

CV:

Bogar Díaz Jiménez received a PhD in Theoretical Physics from the Meritorious Autonomous University of Puebla (BUAP) in Puebla, Mexico, in 2017, supported by a Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACyT) Fellowship. His previous experience, to the CONEX program, is:

-UNAM-DGAPA postdoctoral fellowship with José David Vergara (UNAM, 2020-2021)
-CONACyT postdoctoral fellowship with J. Fernando Barbero G. (CSIC, 2018-2020)
-VIEP-BUAP postdoctoral fellowship with Gerardo F. Torres del Castillo (BUAP, 2017-2018)

During these postdoctoral positions, he published eight papers in JCR journals with high impact factor and he taught undergraduate and graduate-level courses. He is a member of the National System of Researches (SNI) of CONACyT (Mexico):
-level: 1 (2021-2024)
-level: candidate (2018-2020)
His primary research interests are in the field of Mathematical and Theoretical Physics. In particular, he is interested in classical and quantum aspects of general relativity and field theory defined in space-times with boundaries.
