Stefano Levialdi Ghiron

 
 

Stefano Levialdi - Universitá di Roma (ITALY)

Stefano Levialdi graduated in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

He has worked at Philips Telecommunicatie, in Hilversum and lectured on Electronics in the School of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences at the University of Genoa. Dr. Levialdi was also a lecturer at the University of Naples, and a researcher at the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) in the Cybernetics Laboratory, where he directed a research group on parallel image processing. He received full professorship at the University of Bari, and currently he is a Professor at La Sapienza University of Rome.

Dr. Levialdi has published over 260 papers (including articles, talks and edited books) with more than 130 co-authors and recently presented an article in Interact 2007, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is an associate editor of numerous journals, such as Pattern Recognition, Computer Vision and Image Understanding, Pattern Recognition Letters and Machine Vision and Applications.

RESEARCH STAY AT UC3M: COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

PROJECT: Work during the stay deals with iconic interfaces, design and evaluation of icons, distance learning, shared annotation systems and systems which exploit social knowledge through the net, a topic of interest today. Moreover has participated in the study and development of a visual mashup application for social interaction during emergencies.
