International mobility

  • In the Academic Year 2017/18 UC3M offered 2235 positions to study abroad in European and non-European countries.
  • 1382 UC3M undergraduate students took part in a mobility in the year 2017/18.
  • Erasmus+ Mobility Call 2019/20 offers UC3M students 1734 places in 335 universities from 29 European countries.
  • Non-European Mobility call for Academic Year 2019/2020 offers students 890 places in 148 universities from 27 countries (outside the EU)
  • New International Double Degrees have been signed throughout 2018:
    • DTI Degree in Business Administration / Degree in Economics with the Paris Dauphine University.
    • DTI in Master in Contemporary Spanish Language and Literature with the University of Bremen.
  • 51% of UC3M graduates has taken part in a European or non-European mobility.
  • UC3M is the top Spanish university in percentage of undergraduate students taking part in an Erasmus+ mobility
  • Erasmus+ improves student’s soft skills, especially valued in the human resources area
  • Erasmus+ increases possibilities of finding a job a year after graduating.
  • 20% of UC3M students are international
  • More than 1200 students and professionals from several countries have completed their academic training with investigation masters in the Postgraduate Centre.​
  • International students who come to study at UC3M represent around 20% of undergraduate students, 35% in the case of master's degrees and over 40% in the case of doctoral students.

International activities within the UC3M

  • More than 60 Spanish UC3M students take part in the Buddy programme every year.
  • There are UC3M student unions collaborating and planning activities with international students.

International internships

  • The period of practical training abroad, in any public or private organization active in the labor market or in the fields of education, training or youth, it is a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 12 months.
  • 1 out of 3 students is afterwards hired by the same company.

International Volunteering

  • 75% of entrepreneurs claim that volunteering is helpful to find a job
  • In 2017, in partnership with the International Volunteering programme of the Public Universities of the Community of Madrid, students of the UC3M received 6 mobility grants for stays of 3 or 6 months in Peru (2 places), Mexico (2 places), Colombia (1 place), Ecuador (1 place) and Uganda (1 place).
  • In the 2017 call for Cooperation Project Mobilities 7 mobility grants were given to undergraduate and postgraduate participants in UC3M Cooperation Group projects.
  • 92.2% of the graduates of the UC3M in 2017 accessed the labor market in the first year after graduation.
  • 85.2% of the graduates find work in the first six months. The majority are incorporated into private, large and international companies (Regional 6.1% National 26.4% Multinational 67.5% 88.5%) private company.

Studies

  • UC3M is one of the Spanish universities with the highest offer of English and bilingual degrees (31), which represent 72% of its offer in the academic year 2018/19.
  • As a novelty in degrees, the Degree in Physical Engineering and the Degree in Applied Mathematics and Computing are taught entirely in English; and, the Degree in Cultural Studies, taught in Spanish and English.
  • 35% of the more than 110 masters and own degrees are taught in bilingual or English.

Languages

  • 35% of the 110 second-cycle programmes are bilingual or fully taught in English.
  • UC3M is a Cambridge and ILTS certificates official examiner centre.
  • 9 out of 10 Erasmus+ participants improve their linguistic competences.
  • Knowledge of a second language, besides English, is a differentiating element in the job market, especially in positions of responsibility
  • With the platform Erasmus+ OLS (Online Linguistic Support), Erasmus+ participants are able to assess their knowledge about their mobility language and, if they are interested, to follow an interactive language course.
