    16th Transatlantic Intellectual Property Summer Academy (TIPSA)
    June 12-14, 2023

    The programme has a multidisciplinary teaching content on intellectual property, internet and international economic law and technology policy, with added value on the following fields: Intellectual Property and digital technologies from a US, European and international perspective; Intellectual Property and Artificial Intelligence law, policy and practice from a US, European and international perspective; Intellectual Property as a tool for researchers; Intellectual Property and business/ Digital business operating model from a US, European and international perspective. A budget for 11 students is attached, which is the number needed to make it feasible (9 students would be sufficient if there were no discounted students).

    For one week each year, Carlos III University School of Law organizes or takes part in the Transatlantic Intellectual Property Summer Academy jointly with other schools and universities. Faculty includes highly-regarded academics from top-ranked law schools around the world

  • PROGRAM

    Program contents include inter-disciplinary high-level teaching on intellectual property, Internet technology and international economic law and policy (as per details below), with added value in each of the following fields:

    • North American, European and International IP and Digital Technologies.
    • North American, European and International IP and AI Law, Policy and Practice.
    • North American, European and International IP as a tool for Researchers.
    • North American, European and International IP and Business /Digital Business operational models.

    As a result of their attendance to the Transatlantic Summer IP Academy 2023, participant lawyers, economists, scientists and engineers, as well as business specialists (at student or young professional level) are to:

    • Enhance, thanks to lectures by the best international IP specialists, their international knowledge in their own field of expertise.
    • Better embrace intellectual property, high-tech and digital business globally, as a subject item at the crossroads between different stakeholders.

    Teaching methodology

    For all lessons, a participatory and interactive pedagogical approach is chosen, including business examples and case studies, practical exercises and opportunities for direct contact with IP operators and companies in a dynamic, horizontal and open working environment.
