The Master in Aeronautical Engineering (MAE) provides, at a time, full professional accreditation as Aeronautical Engineer in Spain and an internationally-focused high-level education enabling individuals to develop their professional career in all sectors of the aeronautical and space industries, agencies, and research centers. To achieve these two goals the MAE syllabus combines a core, covering all fields of Aerospace Technology.
The Master consists of 90 ECTS, including a Thesis, distributed in 3 semesters. Optional extensions of up to 30 ECTS will be available for individuals wishing a deeper specialization or enrolling in a PhD program.
The MAE is most adequate for individuals with a BSc-level background in aerospace engineering and, in particular, its syllabus has been built upon the knowledge and experience acquired in the BSc in Aerospace Engineering (BAE) at UC3M. The MAE is imparted totally in English seeking the creation of a multinational environment proper not only of the aerospace industry, but of most innovative fields, professions, and universities.
Small groups, of about 40 students, and a faculty team pertaining to a unique UC3M department assure a close monitoring of students and excellent coordination among courses.

Application
The request is made electronically through our application. Before starting the admission process, please, read the following information:
Full-time enrollment in the Master requires about 40 hours of commitment per week during the academic period. This includes lectures and laboratory attendance, personal study, and preparation of assignments and exams.
Furthermore, continuous evaluation, based on assignments and quizzes during the course period, amounts to no less than 40% of the final grade in the ordinary call. Therefore, those people willing to coordinate a professional internship with the Master study are strongly recommended either to enroll part-time or, preferably, postpone the internship to the second Master year.
Requirements
Can access the master anyone who is in possession of a bachelor degree in the branch of aerospace engineering that gives access to the Master's degree that gives professional accreditation to work as Aeronautical Technical Engineer in Spain or a degree that provides equivalent competences.
The admission criteria for this Master's Degree are set out in the Order CIN/355/2009, February 9.
Admission criteria
Admission will be decided by the MAE Academic Committee. Candidate selection will be done on the basis of the following criteria:
ADMISSION CRITERIA % Academic Excellence in BSc (or equivalent) Degree E English level * up to 20% of E Professional experience in Aeronautical Engineering. Professional experience and scholarships will be valued. up to 20% of E Motivation, interest and recommendation letters up to 30% of E * To score in this section, a level higher than B2 is required, that is, levels C1, C2 or proven experience having attended teaching in English-speaking engineering for at least 2 years.
The personal statement by the candidate (compulsory, written in English and with a maximum extension of 2 pages) should explain concisely the motivation of the student for joining the Master, whether part-time or full-time enrollment is planned, the main areas of interest within the Master syllabus, and the professional plans after finishing it.
Reference letters on the candidate academic achievements are optional. They are mainly suggested for candidates coming from foreign Institutions or holding Bachelor degrees that could be less familiar to the Master Academic Committee, and thus more difficult to assess.
Language requirements
A good level of spoken and written English is needed. Students must present an Official B2 English diploma including evaluation of the 4 areas: listening, reading, speaking and writing. As reference B2 corresponds to a First Certificate in English (Cambridge), IELTS 6.0 (or higher), or equivalent.
The language requirements will not be required to those students whose mother tongue is English or students who have completed their undergraduate studies in English, upon presentation of the relevant documentation.
The Language Center regularly organizes language level accreditation exams.
You can check the language requirements of generic language required to study a master at UC3M, depending on is in Spanish, English or bilingual.
students with foreign university degrees
Please note that due to the fact that this Master’s program grants you access to regulated professions, it needs to comply with a special legislation that requires those applicants with foreign degrees to have their degrees previously accredited and recognized by our Ministry of Education of Spain.

- EXTENSIONS
While the 90 ECTS of the Master cover satisfactorily Spain requirements for the professional accreditation as Aeronautical Engineer in just one-and-half years, UC3M is also offering complementary formation to those students desiring to enlarge their apprenticeship and skills, before entering their professional life. This complementary formation, which is voluntary and can be customized to different individual interests, can be recognized in the European Diploma Supplement (SET-EDS).
UC3M offers four types of supplements for the Master with a typical duration of one semester and involving 30 ECTS. These supplementary activities will start from December, after completing the MAE courses in the second year.
MASTER IN SPACE ENGINEERING
If you wish to complete your master's degree curriculum, adding a comprehensive and specialized training in design and systems engineering, oriented to the development of space projects, apply for admission to the Master in Space Engineering to start it together with the second year of the Master in Aeronautical Engineering (for example, if you take the first year of the Master in Aeronautical Engineering in 2023/24, you will have to apply for admission to the 2024/25 academic year in the Master in Space Engineering). We offer you the possibility of obtaining a second Master's degree by taking 51 ECTS of this program. The previous passing of the Master's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering will allow you to apply for and obtain the recognition of 39 ECTS*.
*The recognition fee is 25% of the program's tuition fees.
INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE SUPPLEMENT
This is an opportunity to obtain training in a particular aerospace area chosen by the student at an international reference university. For this purpose, scholarships are offered in the Erasmus+ program for 6-month stays in a foreign institution after completing the courses of the regular MAE program. It is recommended that the Master's Thesis be part of the exchange agreement.
MANAGEMENT SUPPLEMENT
This supplement attempts to offer a transversal and complementary formation to MAE students in the field of Management. Students may choose among several courses of the UC3M Master in Management.
ENGINEERING & R&D SUPPLEMENT
This supplement is intended to give students the possibility to personalize their training by including complementary training in other complementary fields of engineering or to take advantage of this supplement to acquire complementary training in the field of research (especially for those who want to continue their training with a PhD).
