Electronics Systems and related components are currently in any electronic products, from computers and mobile phones to cars and buildings. The intelligence provided by microelectronic, nanoelectronics and photonic systems has an increasing role in future products and services which will be more digital and with more connections among them. On the other hand, power electronics give competitive advantages by increasing their autonomy and improving their energy efficiency.
The master is designed to educate engineers for active participation in business and also for those initiating research in the field of electronic systems and the technologies around them. Special emphasis on the differences between both profiles is given on the selection of the subjects and seminars (given by industry professionals and/or researches from leading institutions).
After complexion, those students covering 300 ECTS would be eligible to apply for admission at PhD program on Electrical, Electronics and Automation Engineering.

- CURRICULUM
The Master's Degree in Electronic Systems Engineering runs across one academic year with a set of 21 ECTS made up of core subjects, 27 ECTS made up of elective subjects and 12 ECTS for the Master's Thesis (TFM). The electives are spread across two study routes, each represented by a specific subject-matter. Students can choose a study route if they have completed at least 12 ECTS of the options set out within it. Students can also choose to combine subjects from both study routes. The study routes covered are:
- Electronic Systems Route (I1). This study route is intended for students who wish to understand a complete electronic system, to identify different blocks and to learn to specify and design based on innovative technologies and components.
- Components and Subsystems Route (I2). This study route is intended for students who wish to gain an insight into the latest advances in electronic/photonic components and design tools for electronic subsystems in both microelectronic and integrated opticals electronic subsystems.
To complement the study routes, an elective subject-matter is available, which relates to the field of electronic system applications and dynamic new trends according to current developments in the field. Elective credits linked to collaborative projects are also on offer, along with company internships or seminars conducted by experts from the professional and / or research sphere. Students who wish to take on more complex electronic system design can choose the subject Experimental Projects II, which will add to their overall experiment-related workload.

- INTERNSHIP
The program for the Master in Electronic Systems Engineering aims to educate students who intend to carve out an innovative career for themselves in the electronic systems field, and also those who intend to carry out research activities. To achieve this, a subject called R&D Seminars I is offered, which includes seminars conducted by professional industry experts and distinguished researchers. An elective subject called R&D Seminars II is also available to undertake internships in companies or collaborative projects with leading international centers.
An introduction to the labor market is possible for those undertaking industry internships that can run alongside the Master's Thesis. As well as established companies, several spin- off firms are included.
There is a wide selection of companies with which there are agreements for the development of internships, in large companies such as Indra, Airbus, Telefónica, ARQUIMEA or in small highly innovative companies such as SMART control. There is an internship coordinator in the master's program who coordinates these actions. All student requests are attended to each academic year. In addition, it can be complemented with the development of the final project also in collaboration with the company.
Students interested in research may be able to participate in international exchange programs for students and teachers through existing agreements such as:
- Fachhochschule Darmstadt , Germany
- Høgskolen I Gjøvik, Norway
- University of Kent at Canterbury, U.K.
- Telecom Bretagne, France
- Politecnico di Torino, Italy
- Ghent University, Bélgium
As a result of the Department of Electronic Technology academic staff's extensive experience in European networks and projects, we have active links with a wide range of European institutions. These networks allow students to participate in international exchange programs for short-term periods, usually for those who are willing to enroll in a Ph.D. program. They also provide for the international exchange of experts.
More information about the research activities and projects related to the Master's Degree can be found through the Electronic Technology Department various research groups.
