The Master in Advanced Public Law Studies offers the development of knowledge and skills for the challenges faced by the future advanced legal researcher: the need to deal with complex problems in a constantly changing internationalized context that creates uncertainty and, consequently, requires solutions inspired by an intense component of specialization but also interdisciplinarity.
Once obtained the master degree, students can access directly to the PhD program.
This master also provides the students with voluntary traineeships in prestigious institutions belonging to the public or non-profit sector.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The master's degree curriculum is structured in five subjects:
- MATTER 1: Legal Theory, Methodology and History Studies
- MATTER 2: Current problems of public law
- MATTER 3: Public Law and Globalization
- MATTER 4: Internships
- MATTER 5: Initiation to legal research.
Within the 52 elective ECTS offered, a total of 24 ECTS must be taken in 6 elective subjects that must choose between Subject 2, Subject 3 and Subject 4 and their external practices.
✎│ The Master's Degree requires attendance at all classes. The maximum percentage of absences is 20%. Exceeding this percentage in the overall calculation of the master's degree may result in expulsion and failure to obtain the degree. In addition, if more than 20% of the classes in a subject are missed, it will be considered a suspense.

REQUIREMENTS
In order to access the course you will need to have obtained an official Spanish university degree or another qualification from a higher educational institute in another member state of the European higher education area, provided that it is a sufficient requirement for a master's degree in the country of issue.
Candidates with qualifications from countries which are not members of the European higher education area may be admitted if they are able to attest that their degree corresponds to an educational level equivalent to official Spanish university qualifications, again provided that they are of a sufficient level for entry to post graduate courses in their own country.
Access to the master's degree in advanced public law studies for candidates with qualifications from countries which are not member states of the EHEA in no way implies official validation of the prospective student's qualifications, or recognition for purposes other than that of entry to the master's degree.

Once admitted to the Master’s, students with university degrees issued by a higher education institution belonging to an educational system outside the EHEA, must provide, for enrolment, the diploma, legalized by diplomatic procedures or by means of The Hague Apostille. They must also submit the transcript of records, with the grade point average, duly legalized.

- PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Course 0
Course 0 Introduction to Spanish and European Union Law aims to provide foreign students of the different Official Masters of the Graduate School of Law with the necessary basis to face in the best conditions their specialized postgraduate studies at UC3M so that they can achieve an optimal use of them.
The target audience of this Course will be those students who have obtained their academic degree in Law outside Spain, either in other European Union States or in third countries or in a discipline other than Law, either in Spain or abroad. These students must attend Course 0, unless they can prove that they have at least 3 years of prolonged professional legal experience in Spain. In any case, they must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the basic institutions of Spanish and European Law through the evaluation test scheduled in Course 0. Once the exam has been passed, a certificate of attendance and completion of the course will be issued.

STRUCTURE
The syllabus for this Double Master's degree is structured around three teaching terms and a compulsory work placement for which students will obtain 75 ECTS corresponding to the University master's degree in Legal Practice and Representation 48 ECTS of the University Master's degree in Advanced Studies in Public Law.
The 123 total credits on the dual syllabus are broken down as follows:
- In the first term, compulsory subjects on the Advanced Studies in Public Law course corresponding to the main part of this degree (18 ECTS in total, in afternoon classes).
- In the second term some compulsory subjects will be studied, completing the technical training in Legal Practices and Professional Activity of the Master's degree in Legal Practice and Representation (30 ECTS in total in morning classes), and a second phase, also mandatory, of the Advanced Studies in Public Law specialization (6 ECTS in total taught in the afternoons). In the first and second semester elective credits of this specialization are offered, from which a total of 12 ECTS must be chosen.
- In the third and final term, one compulsory subject on the Legal Practice and Representation course corresponding to the main part of this degree (9 ECTS in morning classes), the guided external work placement designed for students to acquire the skills and abilities needed to exercise the profession of law, and the final dissertation for both master's degrees.
27 of your ECTS credits will be recognized and at the end of the course you will have obtained two official Master's qualifications.
Classes for the specialization Master's program begin in September and classes for the Master's program in Legal Practice and Representation begin in March.

Important
To be admitted to the Doble Master Degree you have to be admitted by the Academic Committee of the Master in Legal Practice and Representation. If your application for admission to the Double Master Degree is Not Accepted, you can still apply for admission to the Master in Advanced Studies in Public Law if you want.
On the other hand, the admission to the Master in Advanced Studies in Public Law doesn’t imply the admission to the Master in Legal Practice and Representation.
In any case, the resolution will be communicated to the applicant.

2 Admission and registration on the double master's degree course will provide exemption from ECTS credits which will be validated according to the curriculum (see Program). Having obtained credits from both syllabuses, together with validation of 27 ECTS you will be able to obtain two official master's qualifications in little more than a year and a half. This exemption from payment of fees for validating ECTS credits shall only be applicable to students registered on the Dual Master's degree from the start.
NOTE: the indicated public prices do not include in any case, neither the ECTS corresponding to the Formative Complements that the student must take (only master's degrees with previous Formative Complements), nor the cost of issuing the master’s degree certificate.
