Semester French courses

Students on the university campus

Niveles

All levels and sub-levels from A1 to C2 are offered, provided there are enough students enrolled in the level. Interested students who have previous knowledge of the language will take a level test to determine which course can join.

Schedule

Duration: 40 hours

Grupos of two classes per week, 2 hours each class.

Groups of one class per week, 4 hours each class.

Continuous assessment.

This is the course

The French courses offered by the Centro de Idiomas in partnership with the Institut Français have a communicative focus and work on all of the language competences, oral as well as written.

All the teaching hours given by a teacher ensure interaction with the teacher and with classmates.

Registration

Registration procedure for 2nd semester courses 2024/25:

1. Students with previous knowledge of French:

  • Take the LEVEL TEST between 20 and 31 January.
  • NOTE: to ensure good management of the level tests, we ask that they be carried out as soon as possible and within the established time period.

2. Students without previous knowledge of French:

  • Contact the French institute before 4 February by sending an email to: uc3m@institutfrancais.es
  • Indicate in the email the timetable and the preferred method of study that you have chosen from the list mentioned above.

3. Students from the previous semester:

  • Contact the French institute before 4 February by sending an email to: uc3m@institutfrancais.es
  • Indicate in the email the next level (no test required), the timetable and the preferred method of study that you have chosen from the list mentioned above.

Important dates:

  • Notification to students about the formation or cancellation of groups by level and request for payment of registration fees: 4 and 5 February
  • Deadline for payment of registration fees: 5 to 12 February
  • Final confirmation of groups: 14 February

    2.  Throughout the year, students can learn or improve their French spending a language stay in France. In exclusive centres, they will live an enriching experience at the pace of the French. The administrative costs (60€) are free for them.

  • Objectives
    • Engage in comprehensive work in all communicative competences, oral as well as written.
    • Acquire the tools necessary to improve oral fluency appropriate to the level.
    • Improve and broaden the student’s lexical range.
    • Work towards attaining grammatical accuracy.
  • Attendance

    ATTENDANCE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN CREDITS

    A student may only be absent for up to 20% of the course (8 hours) for any reason.

    A student who fails to meet the attendance requirement for any reason will be allowed to take the final examination but will not receive credit.
