It is a test designed for members of the university community that can be taken in German, French, English, Italian and Portuguese in order to assess students’ language skills from A1 to B2 level. The fee is €40 for each test.
If you need to prove that your level is C1 or C2, you need to take a language official examination.
What is it for?
The results of the test are valid exclusively for university admin procedures and they will be part of each student’s language passport. They will be valid throughout their university life and students will not need to repeat the test. Depending on the results, the test:
- Certifies the language knowledge for European and non-European mobility schemes
- Allows students to stay in a degree with ‘English option’ or ‘bilingual’ (a B2 level in English is required)
- Allows students to compare their English skills if they achieve a minimum level of B1 in English
- Allows students to meet the criteria for the level of English for the new programmes 2017
What is the test like?
The test comprises of three parts:
- Listening comprehension.
- Use of language.
- Reading comprehension.
This exam is conducted face-to-face. Online exams are available for extraordinary cases; please contact with the Language Centre. Each question is worth one point; each blank or incorrect answer will be penalised up to 0,33 point each one depending on the level of the question.

How to book your exam
Each month, this exam is conducted face-to-face. Any changes to modalities or dates will be notified on this page. To take the test, it is necessary to have a laptop, headset or headphones, and the Google Chrome browser installed. To book your place you have to:
- Check the calendar for exam dates available;
- Pay the exam fee, using the form available through the link at the bottom of the exam calendar;
- You will receive an email confirming the date of your exam.
- The form for fee payment will remain open throughout the entire course. Once you have access, you will see which exam date the payment is for. The first available appointment will be always assigned.
- If you cannot take the exam at a specific time due to an exceptional circumstance, please send us an email just after the payment so we can take it into consideration.
Terms of cancellation and refund policy.
- The fee paid in each exam session is valid exclusively for that session and cannot be used for a different one.
- The fee paid cannot be refunded, unless exceptional circumstances are proven.
