Curso Cero en Química 2024/2025

Presentation and objetives

In order to enhance your academic performance in this new stage that you are now starting, the Carlos III University is organising zero courses for you to acquire the knowledge and skills that the University considers essential for you to start your degree with a better preparation.

During the month of August, the University offers you a website where you will be able to find support material (videos and exercises) that will be of great help to prepare you for the Zero Course.

It is a very enjoyable way of assessing your knowledge, advancing your studies and interacting with your classmates.

It is important to work on the platform in August. In order to access it, each enrolled student will be provided with the corresponding login and password. You will also have this information available when you consult your assigned groups.

The Zero Chemistry Course is aimed especially at new students in:

  • Bachelor in Aerospace Engineering
  • Bachelor in Biomedical Engineering
  • Bachelor in Industrial Technologies Engineering
  • Bachelor in Energy Engineering
  • Bachelor in Industrial Electronics and Automation Engineering
  • Bachelor in Electrical Power Engineering
  • Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering
  • Bachelor in Science
  • Dual Bachelor in Engineering Physics and Industrial Technologies Engineering

Teachers

The courses will be taught by lecturers from the University's Department of Materials Science and Engineering and Chemical Engineering.

Place, date and time

The zero course is organised in two phases:

PHASE 1: Online sessions with asynchronous teaching.

This phase takes place during the month of August.

An average of 20-25 hours of work is required to satisfactorily meet the objectives of each of the courses in the online phase, depending on the student's previous training.

PHASE 2: Face-to-face sessions 

This phase runs from August 28 to 3 September.

The Zero Chemistry Course has a total duration of 10 hours, organised as follows:

  • Days: 28, 29, 30 August to 3 September.
  • Hours: 2 hours per day
  • Venue: Sabatini Building
  • Classrooms: 2.3.C01 – 2.3.C02
  • Timetable: 16:30 to 18:30 hours

The list of admitted students will be published on 29 July.
