Award best tesis dissertation FEIBIM 2024 Fernando Viadero Monasterio

October 2024. The PhD Thesis entitled "Design of driving automation systems based on robust control for the improvement of safety and comfort in automotive vehicles"  written by Fernando Viadero-Monasterio and supervised by Beatriz López Boada and Mª Jesús López Boada has been recognized with the 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐡𝐃 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 from the 𝐈𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐨-𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠, based on the quality, novelty of the results obtained and their relevance to the field of mechanical engineering.

This Doctoral Thesis was conducted within the national competitive project Intelligent Driving Safety System under an IoT platform with low-cost devices (RTI2018-095143-BC21) supported through “FEDER/Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades- Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI)” of the Government of Spain.
 

October 2024. The researcher Beatriz López Boada is among the world’s most cited (top 2% Scientists of the World)  in the field "Automobile Design & Engineering", according to the Ranking of World Scientists 2023 carried out by the University of Standford.

Award Best Paper EUCOMES 2024 Project ECOTIRE

September 2024. Prof. Daniel García-Pozuelo Ramos, Farshad Afshari and Fernando Viadero Monasterio have been honored with the IFToMM Best Research Paper Award at EUCOMES 2024 for their work "Designing a New Sustainable and Instrumented Tire: ECOTIRE".

This work has been funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039 501100011033 and by the European Union NextGeneration EU PRTR through the R+D+i project ECOTIRE TED2021-129604B-100.
 

2024 Finalist IEEE ITS Best Dissertation Award Fernando Viadero-Monasterio

August 2024. Fernando Viadero Monasterio has been identified as a finalist for the award of the 2024 IEEE ITSS Best PhD Dissertation Nomination.

Miguel Melenedez Useros has won the runner-up prize of the XX Abertis Award for research in sustainable mobility, in the category of Master's thesis

July 2023. Miguel Melenedez Useros has won the runner-up prize of the XX Abertis Award for research in sustainable mobility, in the category of Master's thesis. The title of his Master's thesis was "Estimation of tire-to-road friction coefficient" and was supervised by the professors Beatriz López Boada and Maria Jesús López Boada.

Participation in the Science Fair of Madrid

Members of the research group MECATRAN have participated in the Madrid es Ciencia Fair 2022, from the 2nd – 5th of March 2022, in collaboration with the madri+d Foundation showing our instrumented vehicle, a buggy equipped with sensors and actuators that, in the last few years, have been incorporated into mass production vehicles, in order to improve their safety and comfort.
