New Postgraduate Building
- Campus Carlos III. International Campus of Excellence
- New Postgraduate Building
AREA: Scientific Improvement
PROJECT: New postgraduate building
OBJECTIVE: Construction of a new postgraduate building on the Getafe Campus
In September 2013, coinciding with the beginning of course, this new building which includes a library, classrooms and offices was opened. In the process of design and construction have been incorporated all those measures of sustainability that the constraints of the project and the budget allowed, achieving a degree of excellence not achieved so far in Spain for teaching building, to earn LEED Platinum certification from USGBC (US Green Building Council).
All the classrooms and offices receive natural light and have intelligent air conditioning systems and light conservation mechanisms which take advantage of natural sunlight. The energy efficient air conditioning system maintains constant temperatures by means of water pumped from geothermic wells.
The library was planned from the beginning of the project as a modern new scenario adapted to the EHEA, conceived as a dynamic and flexible environment, a multifunctional and modernized space that integrates all the resources and services that support the learning and research in University. It is providing space for all possible forms of learning and to answer both classical bibliographic demand as new needs and technologies related to changes in the teaching model and research.
