Action: New Postgraduate Building

Objetives: To construct a new Postgraduate building on the Getafe Campus

This action aims to contribute to the first objective of Campus Carlos III which is promotion of postgraduate studies, from 13% to 20%.

This is an intelligent and sustainable building which integrates a library, classrooms and offices. It is the first construction of its kind designed onUC3M, with the aim of completing the requisites to obtain the LEED certification from USGBC (US Green Building Council).

All of the offices and classrooms have natural light and intelligent climate control, thereby taking advantage of hours of sunlight and daylight and maintaining optimal temperatures for users throughout the day. This energy efficient heating/air conditioning system is achieved by geothermal wells which extract water for heating/ air conditioning at constant temperature.

Building contract awarded on November 26, 2010 to the company ACCIONA INFRAESTRUCTURAS, S.A. Construction began on March 10, 2011 and will take 24 months.
