Action: New Student Residence Hall

Objetives: To construct a new Student Resident Hall on the Getafe Campus

This action aims to contribute to the second objective of Campus Carlos III which is Increasing the student resident hall capacity of Campus Carlos III, doubling the Campus Carlos III housing in Getafe. It likewise contributes to the objective of fomenting an interurban sustainable campus as an energizing force for the surrounding community in the Madrid Region, as it is a totally accessible building which is respectful of the environment. It also facilitates housing for international professors of excellence, thus also contributing to the objective of increasing University research capacity.
 

This project, managed by the Universidad Carlos III Foundation, is part of Government Plan 2009-2012 for housing assistance, and an Agreement has been signed with the Ministry of Public Works, the Madrid Regional Government, Getafe City Hall and Universidad Carlos III, which shall make financial support possible. It consists of the construction of a residence hall for students and University faculty members with 316 places on the Getafe Campus.

• All of the preliminary work is underway to get this project started. At present, the following has already been done:
• Study of project viability
• Preliminary plan
• Topographic study
• Geotechnical study
• Basic project officially approved by the Association of Architects and presented to and approved by Getafe City Hall
• Building permit obtained
• Payment of municipal fees
• Project presented to the Madrid Regional Government.
• Final Project design made
• Final project design officially approved by the Association of Architects
• Certification from the Madrid Regional Government of having completed the requisites for specific collectives
• Payment of Madrid Regional Government fees
• Positive rating from the Madrid Regional Government for housing for specific collectives in the government housing plan of 2009-2012

• Resolution by Madrid Regional Government recognizing the agreed upon loan and the subsidization to promote protected housing for specific collectives. Granting of subventions: Agreement with the bilateral Commission of December 15, 2010 between: Ministry of Public Works, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Getafe City Hall and the Madrid Regional Government to promote 318 units of protected housing for university students in Getafe whereby the Ministry has committed to support the project in the amount of 2,096,291.20 euros for the subvention, and, if necessary, agree to the concession of the agreed upon loan to the promoter of the action, with the corresponding subsidization.
