Presentation
Biomedical science integrates basic and applied disciplines for the study of biological processes related to health and disease, with the aim of improving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of various pathologies. Understanding the molecular, cellular and systematic bases of biological processes enables the development of new biomedical therapies and technologies.
In a global context where chronic diseases, pandemics and age-related health problems challenge healthcare systems, biomedical scientists are essential to lead advances in areas such as personalised medicine, biotechnology and pharmacology.
These professionals combine expertise in biology, chemistry, genetics, immunology and bioinformatics to address complex challenges in research and clinical practice.
Biomedical science also plays an essential role in technological innovation in health, such as the development of medical devices, advanced therapies and precision diagnostic techniques. Moreover, advances in biomedical research have a direct impact on improving quality of life, while contributing to economic growth and sustainability of health systems.
The Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Sciences is distinguished by its multidisciplinary approach, which integrates fields such as molecular biology, bioinformatics and biomedical engineering. This degree, taught in English, aims to train professionals capable of integrating knowledge from different disciplines and applying it to fundamental challenges in the field of biomedicine.

Exchange programs
The Erasmus programme permits UC3M first degree and post graduate students to spend one or several terms at one of the European universities with which UC3M has special agreements or take up an Erasmus Placement, that is a work placement or internship at an EU company. These exchanges are funded with Erasmus Grants which are provided by the EU and the Spanish Ministry of Education.
The non-european mobility program enables UC3M degree students to study one or several terms in one of the international universities with which the university has special agreements. It also has funding from the Banco Santander and the UC3M.
These places are offered in a public competition and are awarded to students with the best academic record and who have passed the language threshold (English, French, German etc..) requested by the university of destination.
