The goal of the UC3M Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism is to form professionals who are prepared to direct and manage tourism companies, identify and undertake business initiatives, manage and supervise companies or other public or private institutions in the sector, manage and plan resources, itineraries and tourist destinations and create specific products.
This degree offers students in-depth knowledge of the tourism sector that will enable them to adapt to the constant changes of the market. Students will acquire a multidisciplinary education that integrates the disciplines involved in the tourism sector: economics, business, law, geography, sociology, history, art, urban planning, computer science and literature, among others.
Given its practical and applied nature, they will be able to broaden their knowledge of the profession with internships in leading companies, entities and organizations.
Employability and profesional internships
UC3M has agreements with over 3000 companies and institutions in which students can undertake internships and access job openings.
A total of 93.4 % of graduates from this University enter the job market the first year after finishing their studies, according to the 2019 XXIV Estudio de Inserción Profesional (Professional Placement Study).

Exchange programs
The Erasmus programme permits UC3M first degree and post graduate students to spend one or several terms at one of the European universities with which UC3M has special agreements or take up an Erasmus Placement, that is a work placement or internship at an EU company. These exchanges are funded with Erasmus Grants which are provided by the EU and the Spanish Ministry of Education.
The non-european mobility program enables UC3M degree students to study one or several terms in one of the international universities with which the university has special agreements. It also has funding from the Banco Santander and the UC3M.
These places are offered in a public competition and are awarded to students with the best academic record and who have passed the language threshold (English, French, German etc..) requested by the university of destination.

The degree in Tourism is multidisciplinary and, while it does not require any specific knowledge apart from that acquired in pre-university education, students should have the following qualities:
- Initiative and an enterprising spirit A positive attitude towards problem-solving and enthusiasm for justifying their actions.
- A collaborative attitude which allows them to obtain the necessary information and knowledge from others in order to take decisions.
- A comprehensive outlook which enables them to relate different types of facts and events and understand the multi-causality of social and economic realities.
- An honest, scientific attitude which assists the handling, interpretation and production of information objectively and accurately.
- A readiness to participate, which, through direct contact with the territory, enables them to observe, recognize and interpret directly the facts and processes occurring.
- A critical, committed and responsible attitude which will lead to an awareness of the risks and consequences of their actions on society and the environment.
Furthermore, students should embark on their studies aware that they are taking a university degree in an institution of the standing of the Universidad Carlos III of Madrid, characterized by its search for excellence in research and teaching. They should therefore also possess the following attitudes:
- Responsibility. Students should be aware that daily work will enable them to achieve the goals and that the amount of effort they put in will determine the results.

General Skills
CG1 To possess and understand the fundamental knowledge of the subjects related to tourism from the different scientific disciplines, their epistemological evolution and the relationship of each one with the other scientific disciplines that deal with it, starting from the knowledge acquired in secondary education and up to a level that guarantees the knowledge of the vanguard in the study of the tourist activities.
CG2 Know how to apply the technical and methodological knowledge related to tourism to their work in a professional way, integrating the knowledge acquired in the different disciplines studied, and possessing the skills that must be demonstrated through the elaboration and defence of arguments and the resolution of problems within their subject of study
CG3 To have the capacity to gather and interpret relevant quantitative, qualitative and spatial data in order to make judgments that include a critical reflection on relevant issues of a territorial, social, economic, legal, scientific or ethical nature, related to tourism.
CG4 To be able to transmit information, ideas, problems and solutions from any of the disciplines studied related to tourism to both a specialized and non-specialized public.
CG5 Have developed the necessary learning skills to undertake professional work and postgraduate studies with a high degree of autonomy.

CE8 To know the normative peculiarities that allow them to foresee the economic consequences that can derive from the non-fulfilment of the corresponding regulations to which they are going to have to face in their professional activity.
CE9 To know and to know how to apply the models and techniques associated to the Economy and to the Direction and Administration of Tourist Companies and the different integrated disciplines.
CE10 To develop entrepreneurial initiatives and creative capacities for the proposal and development of innovative business ideas, using the main tools to create, develop and implement an innovative business that faces the challenges of today's societies.
CE11 To know the fundamentals of statistical analysis, the handling of diverse sources of information and to be able to treat and analyze information to reach conclusions (about the market, society, etc.) useful for professional activity.
CE12 To know all the economic concepts necessary for business management at an accounting and financial level (Purchases, costs, income, etc.), being able to identify and carry out economic and financial transactions as well as to learn how to register them and manage them in an ethical way, respecting the code of ethics that all accountants must comply with.
CE13 Learn how to collect, process, analyse and interpret information and deal with tourism issues through knowledge of the peculiarities of the tourism market (national or international) to which the activity is directed, adequately managing resources and using information and communication technologies (ICT) to implement practices with quality and in a sustainable manner.
CE14 Knowing how to analyse market information and competition in order to establish competitive policies and marketing plans in tourism companies, knowing the singularities of tourism marketing in order to be able to successfully identify the decision-making processes for the purchase of tourism services and products, ensuring user satisfaction in the field of tourism business.
CE15 To be able to design tourism products, services and activities, and make use of information and communication technologies for the design and analysis of tourism products and processes, and implement them with quality, implementing policies of continuous improvement and human resources that ensure user satisfaction and good customer service with respect for the environment, making use of the most appropriate technologies.
CE16 To understand and analyse the different business strategies, at a competitive and corporate level, and to be able to plan and develop business activities at an international level, creating value and improving the competitiveness of tourism companies.
CE17 To know and to handle the computer applications in the organizations dedicated to the tourism, as well as the fundamental structures of the commercialization of tourist products by means of the new technologies.
CE18 Identify, design and propose itineraries and other forms of tourism based on the use of significant cultural representations (literary routes, film tourism, nature trips, etc.).
CE19 To develop capacities to critically analyse the different travel modalities linked to tourism and its cultural representations (scientific, literary, artistic, cinematographic, advertising, etc.).
CE20 To know different foreign languages at the appropriate level to allow the comprehension, expression and application of the specific terminology related to tourism in their professional activity.
CE21 To know the relevant history for the tourist activity and to understand the artistic and cultural phenomena, so that it can recognize the culture, the patrimony and works of art of interest for the development of tourist activities.
CE22 Knowledge to individually analyze, resolve and defend a proposed solution developed in relation to a problem the interdisciplinary area of the degree program, applying the knowledge, skills, tools and strategies acquired and developed within the study program
